Off this afternoon to Memphis for the semi-annual meeting of the American Association of Trust, Estate Planning and Elder Law Attorneys. AATEELA is a small, select group of legal professionals from around the country who brainstorm and exchange information. We're in touch all year round, but twice a year we get together in person. It's an honor to be part of this elite, invitation-only group, and whatever I learn ultimately benefits my clients.
AATEELA's discussions can take us just about anywhere, but this year we plan on discussing a variety of estate planning issues: the ins and outs of Heritage Trusts; irrevocable trusts and modification techniques; the implications of clients' diminished capacity for estate planning; and of course, that perennial topic, tax strategies for estate planning clients and the status of current federal estate tax.
In future posts I'll share the pearls of legal wisdom I'm sure to pick up this weekend.
