Retirement preparation should take center stage for Boomers

In our parents' generation, retirement planning didn't require all that much... well, planning. Life spans were shorter. You said goodbye to your employer at 65, collected your gold watch and your Social Security. You might have a fixed pension check arrive in your mailbox every month, too. 

Things aren't so simple nowadays! 401ks are not what they once were. The equity in your home may be a shadow of what it once was. Fixed pensions are rare. Boomers must work hard and plan hard to build a solid foundation for retirement. It's challenging.
