My readers are a charitable bunch of folks, so I suspect many of you are considering contributing something to the Japanese cleanup effort. The destruction is on a massive scale, and incidentally, a disproportionate number of those affected are seniors.
If you are planning to contribute, please make sure that you give to a legitimate charity. As usual, there is no shortage of con artists and scammers posing as charitiable organizations who will gladly take seniors' Japan-bound dollars just to feather their own pockets. The advice is good not just for this situation, but for any charitable cause you are considering for a donation.
