Florida Medicaid Advisory

The transformation of Florida's long-term care Medicaid program to a managed care model has begun. In the works since 2011, the new program has been promoted by adherents as a way to keep disabled individuals out of institutions and in their own homes for longer, saving the state money.

Under the new program which is just now being  rolled out, Medicaid recipients living in nursing homes, assisted living, or at home (through either the diversion or waiver program) will be required to choose a managed care provider from among the several that the state has contracted with to provide services.
