Surprise: Study Shows Oldest Baby Boomers ARE Retiring

Surprise: Contrary to conventional wisdom, a new study seems to show that the first wave of Baby Boomers, born in 1946, isn't shunning retirement. They're retiring, despite expert predictions that they would not. According to the 2011 MetLife Study of Baby Boomers at 65, nearly half are now retired: 45% completely, and 14% partially. Of those Boomers who remain working, a little over a third plan to retire by age 68.

Of course, these people are just one segment of the Baby Boom generation. Moreover, with the economy in such a state of disarray, who knows what the trend will be going forward? If you're a Baby Boomer, have you retired? Do you plan to? When? What challenges do you face? Feel free to add your perspective to this blog.

And remember, regardless of your retirement status, good estate planning is vital to protecting your assets and your family!
