I'm back after a week's absence from the elder law blog. My wife and I have been in Yellowstone National Park, taking some R&R and enjoying the spectacular vistas of Wyoming and Montana.
Old Faithful performed on cue, building up steam and putting on a spectacular show. But life, unfortunately, does not fall into line like Old Faithful! You can't set your watch by it. Life has too many twists and turns. You can't predict what financial, family and health issues may be around the corner.
So if you're a senior and you've always wanted to visit Yellowstone -- or if there's anything else you've always wanted to do in your retirement -- my suggestion is do it now, while you can. Sure, my elder law practice is all about advising people on being cautious, about planning and preparing. But preparation is not an end in itself: It's the means to an end. And that end is being free of worry so you can enjoy life today.
Seize the day!
