Happy Fathers Day

My father would have been 99 years old today!

Much has changed about fatherhood since the first Father's Day was celebrated in 1910. Fathers' roles have changed. Most men are now actively involved in child care, not just in bringing home the bacon.

And of course, longevity has changed things, too. We get to enjoy our dads for longer. We're also more likely to take on the responsibility of caring for them when aging takes its toll.

I miss my dad (and my mom, too) everyday. At left, a photo of my father, Ben Karp, circa 1950, in the candy store he owned in New Jersey.

Happy Fathers Day to all.
