Heard a poweful, poignant radio interview yesterday with Gary Reiswig. Mr. Reiswig is the only one of three siblings to escape early-onset Alzheimer's. Seven of his cousins also died of the disease. He however does not carry the gene for early onset Alzheimer's -- a reason, he says, for him to rejoice but also to wonder, "Why was I spared?" Mr. Reiswig's book, The Thousand Mile Stare, details his personal and family struggles, intertwined with information about medical issues and the state of current research.
